Cresset Wealth Advisors Co-Founder and Co-Chairman, Eric Becker, has a long history of starting, backing and nurturing companies. He co-founded Sterling Partners (1983), a value-added, growth private equity firm that raised eight funds with over $5.7B of capital. At Sterling, Eric served for 32 years as Senior Managing Director and Co-Chairman of the Operating Committee, which monitors the firm's 30 portfolio companies. Eric also founded: the Caretta Group (2015), a private investment firm that invests in and partners with customer-focused growth companies that have a compelling mission; Trilogy Investments / Vennpoint (2015), a real estate investment firm that invests in value-added real estate; Tango Communications (Co-Founder and CEO); and LifeCard International (Co-Founder), a healthcare technology company that automated claims processing and developed digital portable medical records. Eric is also keenly interested and active in a range of civic and philanthropic organizations including serving as the Co-Chairman of Chicago Ideas Week, a premier annual gathering of global thought leaders created to provoke new ideas and inspire actionable results, and as past Chapter Chairman DC/Baltimore YPO, CEO and Member YPO Gold Palm Beach.
Avy SteinManaging Partner & Co-Founder
Longtime investor and entrepreneur Avy Stein is Cresset Wealth Advisors’ co-founder and co-chairman. With his Cresset co-founder, Avy has been involved with starting, investing in and growing over 150 businesses and raising funds totaling over $8 billion.
Before launching Cresset in 2017, Avy served as Chief Executive Officer of Willis Stein & Partners, a private equity firm he co-founded in 1994, where he was responsible for managing the firm’s investments in the education, recycling, telecommunications, energy and consumer sectors. During that time, Avy also co-founded Lincoln Clean Energy, a developer, owner and operator of utility-scale clean energy projects later acquired by I Squared Capital in 2016.
Earlier in his career, from 1989 to 1994, Avy served as managing director for Continental Illinois Venture Corp (CIVC). Previously, he was President of Cook Energy Corporation, an oil and gas exploration and production company, and served as the parent company’s vice president of corporate planning and legal affairs. Avy began his career in 1980 as an attorney at Kirkland & Ellis.
Avy serves on the board of directors for HilCo Global, a Chicago-based financial services company that specializes in asset valuation, monetization and advisory solutions.
Deeply committed to giving back, Stein is an active philanthropist and civic leader. He is a member of the Board of Trustees, former Treasurer, and Chairman of the Investment Committee of the Ravinia Festival. He is also a member of the Harvard Law School Leadership Council of Chicago and a member of the Leadership Council of CAEL (The Council for Adult & Experiential Learning). He also provides fundraising support and strategic counsel for B.U.I.L.D. (Broader Urban Involvement in Leadership Development, a nonprofit organization that provides career and educational development for at-risk youth on Chicago’s south and west sides. He is also a director for the Western Golf Association and supports the Evans Scholars Foundation.
Stein received his law degree from Harvard Law School and holds a B.S. in accounting from the University of Illinois.
Mark SternManaging Partner, Real Estate
Mark Stern joined Cresset Partners, a private investment affiliate of Cresset Wealth Advisors, in 2017 and leads the Real Estate team. Mr. Stern is responsible for sourcing acquisitions in the United States. Since 1995, Mr. Stern sourced in excess of $5 billion of acquisitions nationwide focusing on multifamily properties. For nearly 16 years, Mr. Stern led several teams at Waterton, a leading real estate investing and property management company, and most recently served as Senior Vice President of Acquisitions. Prior to Waterton, Mr. Stern served as Manager of Acquisitions and Dispositions for Moran and Company, where he was responsible for the Midwest and Denver regions. Before that, Mr. Stern was Vice President of Acquisitions for TVO Realty Partners. During his five-year tenure at TVO, the company purchased 12,000 units with a capitalization of approximately $1 billion. Mr. Stern began his career as an analyst with RREEF. Mr. Stern is currently the membership chair of the Urban Land Institute’s Multifamily Green Council as well as on the board of Weiss Memorial Hospital. Mr. Stern received his Bachelor’s Degree in Political Economy at The Colorado College.
Chris BoehmManaging Partner, Private Capital
Chris Boehm is a Managing Partner and co-founder of Cresset Partners, an alternative asset manager making investments in private equity, real estate, secondaries and other asset classes. He leads Cresset Partners’ private capital efforts, making control and non-control equity and structured debt investments in private companies across a range of industry verticals, and serves on its investment committee. Chris is also a co-founder of Cresset Capital Management (“CCM”), Cresset Partners’ parent company and the parent company of Cresset Wealth Advisors, a Chicago-based wealth management firm.
Prior to co-founding CCM and Cresset Partners, Chris spent over twenty years as a private equity partner and finance and strategy executive with Willis Stein & Partners. During that time, he led investments in a number of private companies across a range of industries, including business and industrial services, consumer services, education and health care. He also was a co-founder and member of the board of directors of Lincoln Clean Energy, a renewable energy development platform established in 2009. Prior to joining Willis Stein, Chris began his career in the investment banking group of Salomon Brothers.
Chris resides in Winnetka, IL with his wife and three children. He is active in the Chicago community and serves as a member of the board of directors of the Daniel Murphy Scholarship Fund, the Evans Scholars Foundation and the Western Golf Association.
Scott Conners, CFA
Managing Partner, Sponsor Products
Scott joined Cresset Partners, a private investment affiliate of Cresset Wealth Advisors, in 2017 and leads the Sponsor Products team. He is responsible for product development, fundraising, transaction origination, due diligence, structuring, and closing of secondary and primary transactions. Since 1993, he has been directly involved with the fundraising or investment of nearly $10 billion. Prior to joining Cresset, Scott spent 22 years at Landmark Partners, the oldest and one of the leading private equity and real estate secondary purchasers. He joined Landmark in 1993 in the very early days of the private equity secondary market’s development. Scott participated in the market’s growth from less than $500 million per year in transaction volume to over $40 billion a year. He specialized in developing unique transaction structures and was an early-mover in asset lift-outs and fund restructurings. He retired in 2015 as a Partner with responsibility for co-managing Landmark’s private equity secondary activities, with over $11 billion in committed capital. Scott is the recently retired Board Chair of Hartford Youth Scholars, a non-profit focused on educational enhancement and access for the underserved youth of Hartford, CT. He also serves on the Board of Visitors of the University of Maine at Farmington. Scott received his B.A. in Business Economics from the University of Maine at Farmington and his M.B.A. from The Pennsylvania State University. He has been a Chartered Financial Analyst since 1996 and is a member of the Hartford Society of Financial Analysts.
Mike Carrano is a Managing Director at Cresset Capital Partners. Mike has 17 years of secondary and direct private equity investment experience. Prior to joining Cresset, he was a Managing Director at Landmark Partners. Mike was active in all facets of Landmark’s secondary private equity activities including transaction origination, negotiation, due diligence, legal closing and capital raising. He had a leadership role in in investing over $3.5 billion across various transaction types including portfolio acquisitions, fund recapitalizations, structured joint venture transactions and primary commitments. Mike served on various fund advisory boards and committees for investment vehicles managed by Providence Equity Partners, Ridgemont Equity Partners, Primus Capital, Caltius Capital Management and Updata Partners, among others.
Prior to Landmark, Mike was an Analyst at Conning Capital Partners, where he focused on direct investments in private companies in the healthcare and financial services sectors. He began his career as an Investment Analyst within GE Capital’s Commercial Finance business unit. Mike graduated from the University of Connecticut and received his M.B.A. from the Tuck School of Business at Dartmouth.
Co-Head of Business Development & Investor Relations
Jason Neal is Co-Head of Business Development & Investor Relations for Cresset Partners, Sponsor Products Group, and is responsible for cultivating relationships across the private wealth universe including high-net worth individuals, family offices, Registered Investment Advisors (“RIA’s”), broker/dealers and other private wealth platforms. Jason comes to Cresset with over 20 years of private market and business development experience.
Before joining Cresset Partners, Jason was a Vice President at Landmark Partners and led the business development and investor relations effort for independent private wealth investors across Landmark’s private equity and real estate secondary platforms. Prior to Landmark, Jason was a Principal at Kendall Investments and was involved in business development, investor relations, deal sourcing & diligence, as well as oversight of fund operations. Previous experience includes, State Street’s PrivateEdge Group where Jason provided strategic research, due diligence and analytics to institutional investors and HarbourVest Partners were Jason was a manager in their analytics group that provided private market performance reporting and research for use in due diligence, investor relations, reporting and marketing.

Nicholas Parrish, CFA, CAIA
Co-Head of Business Development & Investor Relations
Nick Parrish is Co-Head of Business Development & Investor Relations. Nick focuses on building and developing co-investment partnerships with family offices and institutions for direct private equity and real estate transactions sourced by Cresset Partners. He also shares responsibility for setting the overall distribution strategy for investment products and strategies executed or managed by Cresset Partners.
Nick joins Cresset after spending 14 years with GCM Grosvenor, a global leader in alternative investments. During his time at GCM Grosvenor, Nick was responsible for managing the firms relationships with a variety of investors, including family offices, endowments, family foundations, and pension funds. At GCM Grosvenor, Nick helped develop a variety of new market segments for the firm, including regional distribution in both Latin America and Canada. He also previously held a variety of internal roles focused on strategy, product development, client service operations and marketing. Prior to GCM Grosvenor, Nick spent time with both Northwestern Mutual and U.S. Bancorp Fund Services.
Nick graduated from Marquette University with a Double Major in Business Economics and Finance. Nick holds both the Chartered Financial Analyst designation and the Chartered Alternative Investment Analyst designation, and is a member of the CFA Society of Chicago and CAIA Society of Chicago. Nick also maintains FINRA Series 7, 63, 22, and 39 licenses.
Nick has been involved with a number of philanthropic organizations. He is currently a member of the Chicago Council on Global Affairs 'Young Leaders' program. He previously held board positions with The American Ireland Fund and the Global Alliance for Africa. Nick is married to Meredith and they live in Wilmette with their two young children.
Matt ReileinManaging Director of Community Development
Matt Reilein is a Managing Director of Community Development for both Cresset Partners and the Cresset-Diversified QOZ Fund. Reilein has a deep background in community finance and development and impact investing. He has spent more than 15 years forming relationships and building teams to deliver market-driven capital to low-income communities as Head of Impact Investing with O’Brien-Staley Partners and prior to that as Managing Director, Community Development Banking with J.P. Morgan. Reilein built J.P. Morgan’s New Markets Tax Credit business, overseeing more than $5 billion of qualified investments into low-income communities. Additionally, Reilein was the President of J.P. Morgan’s propriety Community Development Entity and led the Community Development Intermediary lending business, which makes loans to Community Development Financial Institutions and Low-Income Housing Tax Credit syndicators. In addition to his work with prior firms, Reilein has been an industry leader. He currently serves as Chair of the Board of Directors of the Chicago Community Loan Fund. He previously served on the executive committee of the New Markets Tax Credit Coalition and has been deeply involved with the CDFI Fund at the U.S. Treasury on market dynamics. Matt has a degree in International Politics from Georgetown University and a MBA from the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Principal, Private Capital
As the Director of Business Strategy with Cresset Wealth Advisors, Ryan seeks to develop partnerships with individuals, teams and firms in order to expand our ecosystem. Ryan is also responsible for sourcing opportunities and managing the investment process at the Caretta Group. He was previously on the investment team at Sterling Partners, a Chicago–based private equity firm, and in the Healthcare Investment Banking group at Piper Jaffray & Co. where he was responsible for M&A advisory and public and private capital raising. During his time with Caretta and Sterling, Ryan served in numerous board roles. Ryan grew up in the frozen tundra of Minnesota and is known around the office as “The Viking”. Ryan currently resides in the West Loop neighborhood of Chicago with his wife and is an avid food connoisseur.
Vice President, Business Strategy
Oliver is a founding team member and serves as a Vice President of Business Strategy with Cresset Wealth Advisors. He supports client experience, branding and business development initiatives across the company. Additionally, Oliver manages Caretta’s business development efforts and helps portfolio companies with technology, marketing and growth initiatives. Prior to Caretta, he helped launch Imprint, a startup focused on helping people aggregate and share family memories. He also produced television documentaries for the National Geographic Channel and his independent film “From North Carolina to Normandy” has been recognized by NPR. He was a Morehead-Cain Scholar at the University of North Carolina where he received a BA in History with distinction and was elected to Phi Beta Kappa.
Will Hoesley is an Associate on the Private Equity and Real Estate teams for Cresset. Will is responsible for evaluating investment opportunities, coordinating due diligence, and financial modeling. Previously, Will was an investment banking analyst at Piper Jaffray where he focused on mergers and acquisitions and debt and equity transactions for healthcare companies. Will graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Finance, Investment and Banking.
Carter Eckerline is an Associate on the Real Estate and Private Equity teams for Cresset Partners. Carter is responsible for comprehensive financial analyses, strategic research, and management of the due diligence process. Prior to joining Cresset, Carter was a Real Estate Analyst at Holliday Fenoglio Fowler (HFF) where he worked on debt and equity placement transactions nationwide with a focus on multifamily properties. While at HFF, Carter was involved in closing over $1.5 billion of financing across 35 transactions. Carter graduated from the University of Denver with a degree in Finance and Real Estate. Originally from Minnesota, Carter returned to the Midwest to join Cresset after previously living in Newport Beach, California. Carter enjoys traveling and spending time with his family.
Bill BerthaSenior Associate
Bill Bertha is a Senior Associate on the Sponsor Products team at Cresset. Prior to joining Cresset, he worked with Adams Street Partners as a Private Equity Associate, focused on secondary transactions. Bill was involved in all aspects of Adams Street’s secondary private equity activities, including business due diligence, industry review, document negotiation, and portfolio management. Prior to Adams Street, Bill was a member of Northwestern Mutual’s private investments team, providing debt and equity co-investments for private equity sponsor backed portfolio companies. His primary responsibilities included structuring, underwriting, and monitoring investments across a variety of industries and asset classes. Bill graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Madison with a degree in Finance, Investment and Banking, and was a member of the Wisconsin varsity tennis team.
Chief Legal Advisor
Bill Rudnick is the Chief Legal Advisor to Cresset. Bill is a partner with the law firm of DLA Piper, where he has practiced for thirty years.
Bill has been active in food banking for three decades, chairing the boards of directors of The Greater Chicago Food Depository, Feeding America, and The Global FoodBanking Network, which he co-founded. Bill is a member of the Economic Club of Chicago and of YPO Gold.
Bill received his BA, cum laude, in philosophy from Tufts University; he received his JD from the Pritzker School of Law, Northwestern University; and he received his MBA with honors from the Booth School of Management, The University of Chicago.
Bill and his wife Lisa live in Chicago; they have five children.
Chief Financial Officer
David is responsible for accounting, investor reporting, HR related matters, and assisting with compliance and regulatory matters. In addition to Cresset, David serves as the Chief Financial Officer of Willis Stein & Partners where he is responsible for fund accounting, fund related compliance and regulatory matters, investor reporting, assisting the portfolio companies, and day-to-day operations of the firm.
Previously, Mr. Mills was an auditor for Clifton Gunderson LLP and the Illinois Agricultural Auditing Association. Mr. Mills received an M.B.A. from DePaul University and holds a B.S. degree in Accountancy from Illinois College. He is also a Certified Public Accountant. David lives in Chicago with his wife Stephanie and their two children, Nolan and Lainey.
Katherine is Executive Assistant to Cresset Wealth Advisor’s Co-Founder and Co-Chairman, Eric Becker. She and Eric have worked together over ten years, with her supporting him in an EA role, beginning with Sterling Partners in 2007, followed by Caretta.
Prior to this, Katherine spent two years assisting the Co-Founder and General Partner of Montagu Newhall Associates (now Greenspring Associates), and five years serving as EA to the Chairman, President and CEO of NeighborCare. From 1995 to 2002 she worked at Sinai Hospital of Baltimore supporting the Vice President of Patient Care, Chief Nursing Officer and the Vice President of Hospital Operations. She received a B.S. in Business Management from Middle Tennessee State University in 1990.
Wynita is Executive Assistant to Cresset Wealth Advisor’s Co-Founder and Co-Chairman, Avy Stein. Prior to joining Cresset, Wynita spent nearly three years at Citadel, supporting a Global Equities team and eventually managing recruiting events for the Citadel and Citadel Securities People Strategy team.
Prior to this, Wynita worked as an Executive Assistant at Capital Group and Energy BBDO, after launching an event based lifestyle business which operated for six years in Chicago and New York, selling luxury fashion and personal styling services.
Wynita lives downtown, is a graduate of DePaul University, regularly volunteers and enjoys reading, exercise, travel and Chicago’s restaurant selections.
